Abstract

Este estudio tuvo como objetivo comprender la condición que afecta a las vacas lecheras tras el parto, identificando y analizando los factores de riesgo, entendiendo los mecanismos patológicos y evaluando críticamente las estrategias de prevención y manejo existentes. La metodología incluyó la revisión sistemática de la literatura científica, análisis estadístico, laboratorio, y la evaluación eficaz de diferentes estrategias de prevención y manejo. Los principales resultados indicaron que la transición entre el final de la gestación y el inicio de la lactancia constituyó un período crítico en el cual las vacas de alta producción láctea enfrentaron un mayor riesgo de trastornos metabólicos, como la paresia puerperal hipocalcémica. Se concluyó así que la prevención de esta enfermedad, se logró mediante la adición de sales aniónicas a la dieta de las vacas, con recomendaciones específicas según el sistema de producción utilizado (intensivo o extensivo).
