Recuperación de áreas degradadas con Paspalum dilatatum cv INIA Chirú y Paspalum notatum cv Pensacola

Abstract

La recuperación de áreas agrícolas degradadas se ve afectada por la compactación y baja fertilidad del suelo. Una solución es introducir especies nativas o pioneras. En septiembre de 2013, se sembraron Paspalum dilatatum cv INIA Chirú y Paspalum notatum cv Pensacola en 1.5 y 1.7 ha respectivamente, en la Sociedad Rural de Durazno (33°20’15.95’’ S, 56°31’33.16’’ O). En marzo de 2014, se añadió Lotus pedunculatus cv INIA E-Tanín. Los métodos de siembra fueron, siembra directa para Paspalum y al voleo para Lotus, con densidades de 8, 5 y 5 kg ha-1 respectivamente, y una fertilización de 50 kg ha-1 de 0-46-47-0. Chirú y Pensacola en marzo de 2016 cubrían el 44.7% y 22.1% mientras que la cobertura de E-Tanín era de 2,9 y 3,2%, respectivamente. Las gramíneas mostraron aceptable capacidad de colonización, aunque en manchones por las condiciones del suelo. Los resultados son promisorios para recuperar áreas donde las especies forrajeras clásicas han fracasado, sugiriendo la necesidad de un protocolo agronómico que incluya al pastoreo para acelerar la colonización.
