Abstract

Hay suelos agrícolas que muestran un marcado grado de erosión, esto repercute en la reducción de la producción agrícola, haciéndola insuficiente para la creciente demanda de alimentos; para hacer frente a esta demanda se han utilizado fertilizantes químicos sin embargo el uso excesivo de estos afecta negativamente al suelo. Una alternativa es el uso de fertilizantes orgánicos, como son: los bioles, la composta, la vermicomposta y el bocashi, estos se elaboran a partir de cualquier residuo orgánico no tóxico. En este trabajo se prepararon bioles con estiércoles de vaca, cabra y borrego; composta, bocashi y vermicomposta se prepararon con estiércol de vaca y residuos vegetales. Posteriormente se evaluó su uso como fertilizantes en el cultivo de espinaca; el control positivo fue usando fertilizante químico y el testigo suelo sin ninguna fertilización. En general con todos los fertilizantes se obtuvieron valores similares a los encontrados con la fertilización química y mayores que en el testigo: las alturas fueron entre el 14 y el 49% superiores; los pesos de las hojas entre 16 y el 53% y el área foliar entre 67 a 264% mayores que en el testigo. Los mejores fertilizantes fueron el bocashi y la composta. Los estiércoles independientemente de donde provengan, son una fuente interesante de materiales para preparar fertilizantes orgánicos.
