This paper examines several issues concerning the history of the equestrian order in a province which was considered as quasi-Italia : the integration of narbonensian elite in the second aristocracy in comparison with knights from Baetica, the role in this process of the praefectura fabrum, and, finally, about the two Agricola’s grand-fathers, both of them procurators during the reign of Augustus, the existence of hereditary status and functions for Roman knights.
