Anshen liming ou la dimension religieuse du confucianisme

Abstract

Le retour en Chine continentale de la reference au confucianisme prend notamment, dans les annees 2000, une dimension « religieuse ». On evoque, sous cette appellation, des quetes multiformes a travers lesquelles la recherche d’un « apaisement interieur » fait aussi echo au souci d’un destin individuel ou collectif (anshen liming). Afin de mieux comprendre ces phenomenes, on considere dans cet article d’abord une histoire singuliere, temoignant de ce que peut etre aujourd’hui une experience vecue se reclamant d’une religiosite confuceenne. Pour pouvoir mieux cerner le sens ainsi donne a la notion de « religion », on situe ensuite cette experience dans le contexte desormais mouvant de categorisations (religion, philosophie, science) longtemps acceptees comme allant de soi, mais aujourd’hui remises en question non seulement chez les elites mais dans certains segments de la societe. Enfin, pour donner une idee des projets explicites et raisonnes visant a accorder a un confucianisme religieux une reconnaissance officielle et institutionnelle, on analyse trois tentatives faites en ce sens, au nom d’une « religion particuliere », d’une « religion civile » ou d’une « religion d’Etat ».
