Abstract

En Cuba el cultivo de peces ornamentales es un sector muy incipiente, en su mayoría centralizado en el sector privado. Esto constituye una brecha para el control de posibles brotes de enfermedades en los sistemas de cultivo al constituir vectores de transmisión. El objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar parámetros físico-químicos del agua y bacterias presentes en peces ornamentales en acuarios privados de La Habana, Cuba. Se analizaron las siguientes especies: Danio rerio (Cebra), Carassius auratus (Goldfish), Pterophyllum scalare (Escalar), Xiphophorus maculatus (Platy) y Poecilia sphenops (Molly). A estas especies se le realizaron análisis bacteriológicos y análisis químicos al agua de cultivo. Aeromonas sp. fue el género más aislado, con una frecuencia de 65%. En menor medida, se aislaron especies del género Pseudomas sp. (10%) y enterobacterias (15%). Los valores de nitrito y fósforo estuvieron por encima de los límites de referencia. Especies potencialmente patógenas de Aeromonas sp. y de la familia Enterobacteriaceae se obtuvieron de peces ornamentales aparentemente sanos. En la mayoría de las peceras la concentración de nitritos y fósforo inorgánico se encontró en condiciones que pueden resultar desfavorables para los peces debido al aumento de la densidad del plancton y la toxicidad. Los valores de pH, dureza total y calcio se mantuvieron dentro del intervalo de referencia, mientras que la alcalinidad tendió a exceder el límite permitido.
