Salud materna asociada a la lactancia materna exclusiva ENDES 2021-2023

Abstract

Introducción: La lactancia materna exclusiva es fundamental para el desarrollo infantil durante los primeros seis meses de vida, brindando beneficios nutricionales e inmunológicos tanto para el recién nacido como para la madre. Objetivo: Determinar la asociación entre la salud materna y la lactancia materna exlusiva (LME) en el Perú, según datos de la ENDES 2021-2023. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio analítico retrospectivo de corte transversal utilizando los datos de la ENDES 2021-2023. La población incluyó madres de niños menores de seis meses. La variable dependiente fue la LME, mientras que las variables independientes incluyeron edad materna, región de residencia, dificultad para concentrarse, distorsión del apetito, tipo de parto, controles prenatales y capacitación sobre LME. Se utilizó un modelo de regresión de Poisson con varianza robusta, reportando razones de prevalencia ajustadas con intervalos de confianza del 95%. Resultados: Se encontró que la edad materna y la región de residencia se asociaron significativamente con la LME. La dificultad para concentrarse redujo en 5% la probabilidad de practicar LME (RP=0,95; IC95%=0,92-0,99; p=0,015), mientras que el parto por cesárea la disminuyó en 6% (RP=0,94; IC95%=0,900,98; p=0,006). En contraste, la capacitación sobre lactancia aumentó la probabilidad de LME en 7% (RP=1,07; IC95%=1,04-1,12; p<0,001). Conclusiones: Factores como la edad, la región de residencia, el parto por cesárea, la dificultad para concentrarse y la capacitación están significativamente asociados a la LME. Se recomienda fortalecer estrategias de apoyo posparto para mejorar la adherencia a la LME en el Perú.
