La Curva de Phillips en la Nueva Economía Keynesiana: Una revisión crítica

Abstract

Este artículo se divide en tres secciones. En la primera, se revisa la literatura que sentó las bases para el desarrollo de la Curva de Phillips Nueva Keynesiana; en la segunda, se efectúa un análisis teórico y formal del modelo estándar y los modelos derivados que sustentan la curva de Phillips. Por último, se examinan las condiciones de validez y el alcance de las proposiciones teóricas de dichos modelos. Al respecto, se concluye que el modelo estándar, aparentemente consistente con sus bases microeconómicas, es inconsistente con la evidencia empírica; en particular, su carácter enteramente pros­pectivo contraviene el hecho de que la inflación depende en gran medida de su evo­lución previa; pero también implica, contrariamente a lo observado, la posibilidad de auges deflacionarios ante políticas anunciadas de contracción de la oferta monetaria. Los modelos derivados que incorporan la hipótesis de información imperfecta y/o las expectativas orientadas hacia atrás tampoco resultan disuasivas debido a su naturaleza ad hoc y a otras inconsistencias teóricas.
