Matrimoni misti e assimilazione tra gli stranieri in Italia

Abstract

A partire dalla distinzione spesso trascurata tra assimilazione e integrazione, l'articolo ricostruisce le dimensioni e i modelli degli scambi matrimoniali tra stranieri e nativi in Italia, intesi come importanti indicatori di assimilazione, in base ai dati raccolti dall’indagine Istat «Condizioni e integrazione sociale dei cittadini stranieri in Italia». Tre sono i risultati principali. In primo luogo, i livelli dell’esogamia per nazionalita sono decisamente modesti. In secondo luogo, si rile-va una marcata variabilita nella frequenza dell’esogamia a seconda della nazionalita e del genere. Infine, l’anzianita e la generazione migratoria influenzano il livello di esogamia in modo diverso a seconda delle aree di origine e del genere degli immigrati. Ulteriori ricerche sono necessarie per valutare il ruolo dei contesti di partenza, delle comunita immigrate e dei sistemi migratori nel determinare gli esiti indicati.
