Abstract

Abstrak- Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tingkat pencapaian hasil belajar siswa dalam matematika masih jauh dibawah nilai yang diharapkan. Hal ini dikarenakan masih banyaknya siswa yang beranggapan bahwa matematika merupakan pelajaran yang sulit. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri Cikijing yang sampelnya dipilih secara purposive yaitu siswa kelas VII- A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan sisiwa kelas VII-B sebagai kelas control. Hasil penelitian terdapat perbedaan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa antara yang menggunakan pendekatan open ended dengan yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional dalam pokok bahasan segi empat pada siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri Cikijing Majalengka. Dari bukti di atas, maka pendekatan open-ended dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu alternative dalam pembelajaran matematika.
