A contemporary look at modernism from the perspective of landscape architecture, superbly illustrated. The authors describe modernism considering its today’s viewers: theoreticians, architects and students who create space as well as the “consumers” of modernist cities, districts and housing estates, pointing at the relative ambiguity of the phenomenon. They also attempt to answer the question concerning the future of modernism. The aim of the conducted research was to show – in the context of contemporary reception of modernism – its ideas, forms and meaning which can be of use in creating the optimal space between buildings. The authors employed various research methods, used in landscape architecture, urbanism, environmental psychology, sociology, art, social communication and media.
