Abstract

Sekolah merupakan tempat bagi seorang siswa mendapatkan informasi mengenai banyak hal, baik dalam bentuk formal maupun non formal. Selain itu, sekolah dapat juga mengasah kemampuan dan menyalurkan hobi akan sesuatu bidang kegiatan. Hal ini disebabkan, kegiatan belajar di sekolah tidak hanya mempelajari mata pelajaran mata pelajaran yang telah ditetapkan pemerintah (ko-kurikuler), tetapi juga hal-hal di luar mata pelajaran wajib. Contohnya: kesenian, olahraga, kebahasaan, penelitian, dsb. Dan aktivitas yang dilakukan siswa berdasarkan minat dan bakatnya tersebut umum dikenal dalam kegiatan ekstrakulikuler. Aktif dalam kegiatan ekstrakulikuler tidak kalah pentingnya dengan seorang siswa menekuni mata pelajaran wajib. Dengan mengikuti kegiatan ekstrakulikuler diharapkan seorang siswa mampu menemukan salah satu atau lebih kecerdasan lain dari 8 kecerdasan (multiple-intelegence) menurut Howard Gagner. Salah satu kegiatan ekstrakulikuler yang sangat menarik adalah Majalah Dinding (Mading), Salah satu jenis media komunikasi massa tulis yang paling sederhana. Mading adalah sebuat surat berkala atau majalah yang berisi lembaran-lembaran tulisan siswa yang ditempelkan pada dinding atau papan yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan berbagai informasi kepada orang lain dan para pembaca yang bisa melakukannya sambil berdiri. Disebut majalah dinding karena prinsip dasar majalah terasa dominan di dalamnya, sementara itu penyajianya biasa dipampang pada dinding atau yang sejenisnya.
