Comunicación estratégica y el sector pesquero artesanal de Canarias

Abstract

La Pesca Artesanal de Canarias no cuenta con un fuerte imaginario colectivo en la población de las islas. Además, es un sector, una profesión y una actividad que poco a poco se ha ido desdibujando de los escenarios sociales y económicos, a pesar de la importancia pasada del sector. A todo esto, se suma que Canarias se sitúa en el último lugar de España en el consumo del pescado. Una revisión pormenorizada de la literatura científica sobre el sector nos muestra que, desde la comunicación, sobre todo organizacional, no existen estudios que hayan servido para favorecer y revalorizar el sector, por lo cual consideramos en este estudio una primera aproximación. En este caso, nos valdremos de la aplicación de la Comunicación Estratégica como herramienta para potenciar y mejorar el imaginario colectivo sobre el sector. Para ello, se diseñó una investigación con enfoque cuantitativo, para lo cual se aplicó una encuesta sobre el consumo de pescado en familias con hijos escolarizados en infantil y primaria. Se obtuvo un esbozo sobre la situación que ocupa este producto en los imaginarios de la población; y haciendo uso de la comunicación estratégica, se plantean acciones estratégicas sobre el sector a largo plazo a través de la reeducación del consumo de este producto en niños y niñas entre 3 a 13 años.
