HAPPINESS AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN MEDICINE AND HEALTHCARE

Abstract

Happiness and quality of life in medicine and healthcare are inextricably linked to the experience of patients and the way the healthcare system responds to their needs. Modern medicine increasingly recognizes that treatment is not only about eliminating the symptoms of diseases, but also about improving the quality of life of patients. This approach assumes a holistic view of the person, taking into account not only the physical aspect, but also the mental and social aspect. In the context of healthcare, quality of life can encompass both the patient's subjective sense of well-being and specific measures such as physical fitness, lack of pain, or ability to perform daily activities. It is worth emphasizing the role of emotional support that the patient receives from medical personnel, which can affect their sense of security and comfort. Patient happiness does not only depend on the effectiveness of treatment, but also on the atmosphere in medical facilities, the availability of care, and relationships with doctors and staff. Supporting patients in difficult moments of life, providing them with empathy and understanding, can significantly improve their quality of life, leading to a greater sense of happiness.
