
The article provides information on the attitude towards the study of the native (Udmurt) language by its speakers, gives a list of the basic measures aimed at promoting and developing the native language. The focus is on the existing possibilities of teaching the native language in the Udmurt Republic. Particular attention is paid to the modern specificity of teaching the native language: the conception of teaching the native language, teaching aids, the stages of teaching, namely preschool, primary and basic ones. The necessity of introducing electronic forms of textbooks in the process of teaching the native language at school is substantiated.
