Este trabajo recopila el concepto de protocolos, así como su ubicación dentro del modelo OSI(capa de red, transporte y aplicación), modelo de red descriptivo creado por ISO lanzado en 1984 y una descripción de algunas de sus características como familia a la que pertenece, su función y estándares.
