In many parts of the world, the simple act of obtaining clean water remains a daily struggle, forcing millions to rely on unsafe sources and risking their health. This video takes us into the life of Felida, a devoted mother who embarks on an arduous journey, trekking miles to collect contaminated river water for her family. Tragically, her story is far from unique, as countless children lose their lives to diarrheal diseases caused by unsafe water sources. But amidst this crisis, hope emerges in the form of research. I have developed a decentralised water filtration system that turns dirty river water into a safe resource. Through innovative microbial filtration, lives in communities like Felida's can be transformed. This research aims to eradicate the heartbreaking statistic that in 2017, one in ten child deaths resulted from diarrheal diseases directly linked to unsafe water. Together, let's turn the tide on this pressing global issue and create a future where clean water is a fundamental necessity for all.
