Reabilitação Cognitiva na Esquizofrenia

Abstract

Várias revisões bibliográficas sustentam a ideia de que os défices cognitivos observados numa grande percentagem de pessoas com esquizofrenia serão responsáveis pelo desempenho cognitivo deficitário e pela incapacidade funcional associada à doença. A importância crescente da neurocognição em Psiquiatria, principalmente no que respeita ao planeamento de estratégias terapêuticas e de reabilitação que visem melhorar o prognóstico dos doentes, contribui para o interesse da realização desta revisão biblio- gráfica sobre a reabilitação cognitiva na esquizofrenia. Neste trabalho, elaborado a partir de pesquisa nos domínios da esquizofrenia, cognição, reabilitação cognitiva e remediação cognitiva (2000-2012) realizada através do PubMed e The Cochrane Collaboration, pretende-se descrever os tipos de terapias psico-comportamentais preconizadas no tratamento dos défices cognitivos em pessoas com esquizofrenia. Procurar-se-á também destacar as evidências clínicas e científicas de cada uma destas terapias, quanto às suas repercussões no desempenho cognitivo, na sintomatologia e funcionalidade em pessoas com esquizofrenia.
