Abstract

Os tendões peroneais curto e longo atuam como estabilizadores laterais dinâmicos do tornozelo. Estes tendões podem apresentar diversas variantes, sendo que algumas predispõem ao degaste do tendão ou podem mimetizar roturas tendinosas. Além disso, os tendões peroneais podem ser afetados por diversas patologias: algumas associadas aos próprios tendões (tendinose, rotura dos tendões e quistos gangliónicos intratendinosos) e outras relacionadas com a baínha tendinosa (como tenossinovite e sinovite vilonodular pigmentada). Por fim, outras condições estão relacionados com a laxidão ou lesão do retináculo peroneal superior (RPS), a estrutura mais importante na estabilidade dos tendões peroneais. Algumas patologias dos tendões peroneais passam despercebidas clinicamente e a ressonância magnética (RM) é uma ferramenta essencial na avaliação dos doentes com queixas recorrentes do compartimento lateral do tornozelo. O nosso objetivo é rever e ilustrar variantes anatómicas comuns e incomuns dos tendões peroneais, assim como diversas patologias que podem ser encontrados em ressonância magnética.
