
It can be stressed that paper and paperboard are based on renewable bioresouces and environmentally friendly products. In this meaning, utilization of pulpwood from sustainable forest is more significant.Utilization of eucalyptus woodchips from Australian natural forests has been spread since a quater of a century in Japan. However, the share of Australian woodchips is declining and the amount of plantation eucalyptus chips from South Africa, Chile, China, Thai and Vietnam is expanding.Some comparisons on pulping quality of plantation eucalyptus carried out at four papermakers were shown in this paper.It can be said that pulping quality of wood should be considered as one of the most important factor in selecting wood species for eucalyptus plantation.
