Abstract

Antecedentes: Las fístulas arteriovenosas autólogas para hemodiálisis son el acceso vascular preferido en población con enfermedad renal crónica en terapia renal sustitutiva, porque presentan menos complicaciones y mayor permeabilidad. Objetivo: Evaluar las características clinicopatológicas que determinan el pronóstico de maduración de una fístula arteriovenosa para hemodiálisis. Método: Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo, observacional, del 1 de enero al 31 de diciembre de 2021. Resultados: El 70.77% de los pacientes tenía una vena con diámetro de 2.5 mm y una arteria con diámetro ≥ 2 mm en el 83.07%. La maduración se observó en 63.07%; en el 5% era evidente la presencia de enfermedad arterial periférica, diabetes mellitus e hipertensión arterial. El 100% de los pacientes ya contaban con catéter para hemodiálisis. Conclusiones: Los pacientes de edad avanzada con enfermedad arterial periférica, hipertensión arterial y diabetes mellitus además de uso crónico de catéter para hemodiálisis, tienen menos probabilidad de alcanzar una adecuada maduración de la fístula arteriovenosa.
