Endoftalmitis con absceso corneal por Serratia marcescens

Abstract

EnglishEndophthalmitis is a serious eye infection usually produced by bacteria and fungi in the context of previous eye surgery although there are other causes. It is a serious infectious inflammatory disease that can lead to loss of vision and even eye loss. The treatment consists of intravitreal and systemic antibiotics, adjusting them according to antibiogram. The diagnosis of the disease is clinical although it is an emergency, it can be seen in Primary Care which is why it is important to recognize it, given the severity of it, and derive it as such for a subsequent treatment by the ophthalmologist.
