Au debut des annees 80, les ruines d'un caravanserail medieval situe au sud de la ville de Gyaur-kala (Turkmenistan) revelerent, lors de leur demolition, deux tresors composes de pieces d'argent. Le premier tresor fut disperse, et seul un dirham omeyyade date de l'an 101 de l'hegire fut sauve. Quant au second depot, il fut trouve a une profondeur de 1,50 m de la surface, quelques 1000 pieces de monnaie etant dissimulees dans une jarre. Une partie du tresor ayant ete dispersee, 855 pieces furent recuperees par le YuTAKE Institute, pour un poids total de 2,10968 kg. Ce tresor fut probablement enfoui vers l'an 199 de l'hegire ou peu apres.
