El género policiaco en la literatura española del siglo XIX

Abstract

En torno a la figura del detective como heroe aparece todo un reparto de personajes que, segun la epoca y la indole culta o popular del texto en cuestion, desempenan los papeles de victima, culpable, acusado, complice y testigo. La tradicion del genero es tan antigua como el biblico fratricidio de Abel o el clasico parricidio de Edipo. Este libro afirma otras posibilidades a lo largo de nuestro siglo diecinueve, remontandose no ya a la figura del temprano maestro espanol del genero policiaco Pedro Antonio de Alarcon (1833-91) con "El clavo", sino a la de los romanticos Angel Saavedra (1791-1865) y Jose Zorrilla (1817-93). Las pesquisas ofrecen un indudable saldo de obras que demuestran la existencia de una escuela perfectamente configurada. Los origenes, desarrollo y plenitud del detective y sus secuaces y antagonistas son escrutados aqui a traves de los generos, movimientos y autores mas representativos del ochocientos espanol.
