Nine new species of rattail fishes of the macrourid genus Caelorinchus from New Zealand waters are described and illustrated: C. celaenostoma n. sp., C. horribilis n. sp., C. infuscus n. sp., C. maurofasciatus n. sp., C. mycterismus n. sp., C. mystax n. sp., C. parvifasciatus n. sp., C. spathulata n. sp. and C. supernasutus n. sp. A key to the 20 known New Zealand species of Caelorinchus is provided.
