Zusammenfassung Die verschiedenen Vertreter der Gattung “Microcystis” im heutigen Sinn wurden in mehrere Gattungen eingereiht. Es handelt sich um folgende: Micraloa Bias. 1833 (in Kützing 1833, typus = ? Flagellaten); Microhaloa Kütz. 1833. (Irrtum, zum ersten Mal von Rabenhorst 1865 gebraucht); Microcystis Kütz. 1833 (typus = Euglena sp.); Anacystis Menegh. 1837 (typus = Aphanothece sp.); Microcystis Kütz. em. Kütz. 1846 (sine descr.); Diplocystis Trevis. 1848; ? Cagniardia Trevis. 1848; Polycystis Kütz. 1849 (non Polycystis Lév. 1846); Clathrocystis Henfr. 1856; Microcystis Kütz. em. Elenk. 1934 (non emend.). Für gültig kann nur Diplocystis Trevis. 1848 für diese Gattung angesehen werden, auf was zum ersten Mal Drouet und Daily (1948, 1956) aufmerksam machten.
