The concentrations of calcium in plasma and the cellular fraction of blood and red blood washed by a dilution method to remove entrained plasma were determined. After four washings the cells contained 0.082 +-0.012 of the total blood calcium. The average concentration of Ca in washed cells was at least an order of magnitude lower than that of the average plasma concentration of 96 mg/ kg. (auth)
