Abstract : Army communication systems have several major limitations, including limited bandwidth, low throughput, dependence upon terrestrial line-of-sight, lack of full mobility and limited support for intelligence and imagery requirements. Additional requirements include low probability of intercept, jam resistant, multi-frequency systems and low power, weight and cost and small size. The purpose of this program was to address the fundamental limitations of these issues from an overall systems objective and develop appropriate modulation techniques, analog and digital devices and circuits in order to optimize the performance and significantly lower power consumption.
