Desindustrialización, trabajo y violencia en El Salvador

Abstract

En este trabajo se aborda la manera en que la desindustrializacion afecta el mercado laboral de El Salvador. En el analisis se desagregan las variables por genero, lo que permite apreciar las diferentes respuestas de mujeres y hombres a la desindustrializacion. Los resultados indican que la desindustrializacion ha conducido al descenso del empleo de calidad y al aumento del autoempleo, mientras que la participacion laboral femenina ha aumentado y la masculina ha disminuido, en paralelo a las reformas economicas que se llevaron a cabo en los anos noventa, lo que denota el papel de la mujer a la hora de salvaguardar el bienestar del hogar. Ademas, la desindustrializacion esta asociada al incremento de la violencia, ya que contribuye al aumento del empleo de baja calidad. El articulo concluye enfatizando la importancia de restituir la proteccion arancelaria y apoyar la reindustrializacion, la integracion regional, la igualdad de genero y la educacion.
