Humanistyka indygeniczna

Indigenous Humanities
Authors: Ewa Domańska;

Humanistyka indygeniczna

Abstract

The article invites critical reflection on the integration of Indigenous Humanities into research on minority and local cultures, seeking to define its status and role within scholarship. It presents Indigenous Humanities as a transcultural field of inquiry that bridges Indigenous and local knowledges and ways of knowing with a critical approach to Western Eurocentric science and its methods of research. The author highlights the potential of Indigenous Humanities to challenge the anthropocentric nature of knowledge by incorporating an Indigenous perspective based on kincentric understandings of the relationships between human and non-human beings. Various methods of Indigenous ways of knowing are discussed in relation to their alignment with post-qualitative methods of research. The author highlights the capacity of Indigenous Humanities to enrich Polish local and regional studies, while critically addressing the dangers of instrumentalizing and nationalizing local knowledges, which may entangle them with nationalist ideologies and undermine their critical potential.
