Abstract

Noen drap begås av strafferettslig utilregnelige personer. Påstander om en økning i antallet slike drap har gjerne blitt satt i sammenheng med den negative utviklingen i kapasitet hos de psykiatriske hjelpetilbudene. Ved å se på opplysninger om drap fra to tidsperioder vil artikkelen utforske følgende hypotese: Det har over lengre tid vært en økning i antallet drap begått av utilregnelige personer som en følge av nedbyggingen av psykiatrien. Periodene som utforskes er årene 1955–1982, med opplysninger fra et historisk materiale, og årene 2007–2020, med opplysninger fra Kriposʼ årlige drapsrapporter. Artikkelen diskuterer metodiske utfordringer og hypotesens gyldighet.
