</script>Nonsyndromic cleft lip and/or palate (NSCL/P) are the most common congenital anomalies of the face. Dental abnormalities located inside and outside the cleft region are the most frequent dental characteristics found in these individuals. The aim of this paper is to review the literature on dental abnormalities associated with NSCL/P. A search for articles was conducted on electronic databases such as Medline, Lilacs and PubMed. According to the literature, dental abnormalities were more common in permanent dentition. Agenesis and supernumerary teeth showed the highest prevalence. The upper lateral incisor was the most affected teeth by agenesis, supernumerary teeth and microdontia. The teeth located closest to the cleft were more susceptible to defects. The presence of dental anomalies outside the cleft region suggests the presence of genetic events involved in both odontogenesis and craniofacial formation.
