El gesto y la ninfa: acercamientos narrativos a la representación de la ninfa en Bumble

Abstract

La ninfa como representación de lo femenino ha transitado en diversas expresiones artísticas y culturales hasta llegar a las imágenes con las que algunas mujeres se autorrepresentan en Bumble. Estas imágenes representan horizontes de fantasía que hombres y mujeres eligen para ser atractivas. Estos horizontes de fantasía, que en el caso de algunas mujeres repiten los gestos de la ninfa, constituyen el medio por el cual Bumble adquiere información de sus usuarias para venderla como un producto para empresas y mercados globales. Las imágenes de los perfiles de Bumble son numéricas, es decir, están compuestas por fórmulas matemáticas; su rotación en un perfil de Bumble depende de un algoritmo que mide los gustos e intereses, así como de todas las usuarias de Bumble. Una imagen compuesta por números, organizada a través de algoritmos, contiene, en el caso de algunas mujeres, los gestos de una ninfa y es un medio para obtener datos de usuarias que se venden como un producto para empresas globales. Este ensayo integra estas reflexiones al relato de una usuaria de Bumble y su experiencia en esta red social de citas.
