Suyun Önemi, Türkiye’de Su Potansiyeli, Su Havzaları ve Su Kirliliği

Abstract

Water is a required substance in order to sustain vital activities of human such as nutrition, circulation, respiration, excretion and reproduction. On the other side, water itself is also a life space as well as being one of the basic substances in the formation of life space. Occurrence and quality of water in a life space carry importance due to sine qua non precondition of life. Annual average potential of water, which is a very important substance, and places where 26 topographically formed water basins found and annual water potentials of those basins have been considered by the help of current data. Turkey is a country which is under insufficiency of water with 1555 m3 annual water consumption per person. There are differences in both water potentials and distribution of precipitation according to seasons in the water basins. Thus, there is water insufficiency linked with the basins and seasons. Excessive pollution is determined in some of the present surface and groundwaters in our country due to reasons such as rapid population growth, increase of industry, increase of fertilizer and herbicide use in agriculture and not to be aware of environmental conscious. So that, some of the surface waters of basins have been polluted in 4th grade. Excessive pollution is determined in the creeks, rivers and lakes of Meric-Ergene, Marmara, Sakarya, Gediz, Kucuk Menderes, Buyuk Menderes, Burdur and Akarcay (Afyon) basins. Causes of pollution are the pollutants such as nitrogen, phosphor, calcium, organic materials, lead, zinc, chrome. Even excessive heavy metal pollutions are also seen in some of these water basins. Pollutions of surface and groundwaters of Turkey, as a country with water insufficiency, create serious problems for health as well as making life impossible in life spaces formed by water. It has been estimated that if water pollution in our country continues in this rate, problems that we will encounter 25-30 years later will be unrecoverable. We have to be conscious that we have to work very hard in order to produce solutions and take necessary precautions to prevent water pollutions after now for the continuity of humanity and life.
