Abstract

En el siguiente artículo se presentan los resultados de una investigación sobre el aprendizaje de los jóvenes mediante la participación social en comunidades virtuales. El proyecto se organizó en tres fases: (1) detección y cartografiado de entornos virtuales con alta participación de jóvenes de entre 15 y 29 años; (2) selección y estudio en profundidad de 7 comunidades virtuales; y (3) creación y distribución de un cuestionario en línea para calibrar la extensión del fenómeno. Se partió de un muestreo intencionado de 24 comunidades virtuales con alta participación juvenil, que permitió categorizar las particularidades de las comunidades virtuales. A partir de los resultados de la primera fase, se llevaron a cabo siete estudios de caso, realizando entre 2 y 4 entrevistas semi-estructuradas a los participantes de cada comunidad, además de recogida de evidencias obtenidas de la propia observación de los entornos virtuales. Los resultados de esta segunda fase son los presentados en este trabajo, especialmente los relativos a las categorías: interés por participar, cultura participativa, dinámicas de aprendizaje y expansión de los saberes. En la discusión se profundiza en cómo las comunidades virtuales se han convertido en uno de los contextos cotidianos de los jóvenes, ampliando sus oportunidades de aprendizaje.
