Abstract

Gli studi sulla Topografia di Catania Antica ancora oggi si basano sugli studi seicenteschi. La evidente falsità di tali studi, ha reso necessaria una completa revisione dell’intero problema. Il lavoro affronta la identificazione di alcuni importanti monumenti (Circo Massimo, Foro, Teatro), propone una nuova collocazione sulla moderna cartografia e ricostruisce la forma urbana con un impianto ippodameo.

The studies on the Topography of Ancient Catania today are based on seventeenth-century studies. The obvious falsity of these studies, has necessitated a complete revision of the whole problem. The paper deals with the identification of some important monuments (Circus Maximus, Forum, Theater), proposes a new location on a modern map and reconstructs the urban form with a regular system.
