The intended goal of this paper lies on explaining the birth of the Middle Ages with an approach focused in seafaring and shipping changes, which take their final shape between the 9th and 10th centuries, where Andalusian regular war fleets were almost absent or were superseded by the autonomous activity of sailors not linked to any state, the so-called bahriyyun.
