Türkiye de Kent-Kent Göçü Üzerine Bazı Değerlendirmeler

Abstract

Rural to urban migration called the urbanization process in Turkey is about to finish. Based upon the data from 2015, the urban population has reached to 92%. As a matter of fact, 73% of migrations are ‘urban-urban’ migrations, in other words ‘intercity migrations’. Within this context, urbanurban migration is evaluated in the historical process, the dynamics of the process, notably through the TÜİK (Turkish Statistical Institute) data and other data sources are scrutinized. The aim of this research was to comprehensively evaluate urban-urban migration which is the current migration in Turkey, to obtain a holistic result by specifying its quality and quantities. From the literature study the available studies concerning urban-urban migration are extreme limited and mostly evaluate the fact within the frame of ‘gradual migration’ between rural-large city. It was determined that the intercity migrations were based upon pre-1950’s data and were mostly realized from small/middle-scaled cities to large cities. The first reason for these migrations is educational, women and the educated population are keen participants in migrations which are the results of this research. Turkey is going to witness increased intercity migration in the 21st century.
