When a patient is receiving enteral nutrition in hospital and is otherwise medically fit (or soon to become fit) for discharge back to the home and into community institutions such as nursing homes and hospices, home enteral nutrition (HEN) is usually considered. This article describes the process used at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital for the discharge into the community of patients receiving enteral tube feeding.
