The dispersion relations for the velocity v for temporally absorbed hypersonic waves and for the velocity vB as determined from the positions of the Doppler-shifted Brillouin peaks are discussed for a single relaxation process. The difference between v and vB is significant whenever the sound absorption per cycle is not much smaller than unity.
