Abstract

With Hospital Service planning so dominated by the district-hospital concept, the future of the much smaller general-practitioner hospitals has been in doubt. A tour covering 23 of the 400 or so G.P. hospitals in England and Wales illustrated the variety of approach, demonstrated the widespread local desire for their retention, and left the impression that regional boards are taking a more constructive look at the role of these hospitals.
