Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) are covalently functionalized with Ir(III)-based complex and further characterized by nitrogen sorption, SEM, FTIR, EDS, TGA, DSC, DLS and zeta potential measurements. Controlled, pHresponsive delivery Ir(III)-complexes was noticed and demonstrated for efficient treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) cells upon exposure to acidification.
