Online gaming has become a significant sensation in today's society, most notably with massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs). These games attract large crowds (Figure 1), some more populated than a small country, all interacting together within a fantasy world. As the Internet has developed throughout the years, so has the online gaming culture. According to Forbes, in 2014, more than 400 million players played MMORPGs globally [8]. The most popular MMORPG is World of Warcraft, which has an estimated 11 million subscribers [5]. This article investigates and analyzes how World of Warcraft has created a complicated online gaming community and resulted in detrimental effects on real-life relationships by conjuring issues such as bullying and addiction.
