It is well known by those practicing the techniques of nonlinear optics that the power that may be generated in a frequency summing process and the gain that may be obtained in a parametric process are determined by the interaction of tire nonlinear and linear susceptibilities. In general as an atomic transition to the ground state is approached, the nonlinear susceptibility is resonantly enhanced, but at the same time the media exhibits a rapidly increasing refractive index and becomes opaque.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 1K | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 0.1% | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 0.01% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% |
