</script>This article examines the methods of welding with increased efficiency. A modified method of submerged arc welding, which allows for more efficient welding of steel structures, is used in the tests. An additional cold wire is inserted into the arc in the modified method. The influence of welding parameters on process efficiency has been determined, and a preliminary procedure for welding a 25-mm-thick butt joint of DH36 shipbuilding steel has been developed. The proposed technology has been examined and compared with the conventional submerged arc welding technology, showing that this modified method with additional cold electrode wire fulfils the requirements of Marine Classification Societies. This article presents selected test results, whereas the entire content of the study is summarized in the conclusions.
