The paper describes a simple design for binary-to-residue and residue-to-binary converters. The residue number system (RNS) has been chosen to be the three moduli representation (2 n , 2 n + 1, 2 n − 1). The residue-to-binary converter is based on the mixed radix method. The overall converters consist of full adders and subtracters, only without the need of the ROMs or any other complex circuitry required for the usual conversion. The proposed converters have high speed of operation compared with similar converters previously reported.
