MANets are becoming increasingly important for a wide variety of applications, among which multimedia will play an important role in the future. Its special requirements, specially regarding to bandwidth, make necessary a new approach to achieve confidentiality in this kind of networks. In this paper we propose a stream cipher design based in the use of a shrinking generator, an exceptionally simple and efficient pseudorandom number generator. Special requirements, as the use of an initialization vector and an output buffer, for hiding an irregular output, are discussed and addressed.
