Mössbauer-effect measurements of the temperature dependence of the hyperfine field for several austentic stainless steels are reported. Antiferromagnetic transitions were observed for all specimens in the temperature range below 56°K. In addition, a broadening of the single linewidth occurred for each specimen at a temperature near its transition temperature. The transition temperature is interpreted to be a measure of the Néel temperature of antiferromagnetic γ-phase iron.
