WHEAT and barley are the most important cereals in the agriculture of temperate zones. Although both genera belong to the same tribe, Triticeae, apparently successful crosses between wheat and barley have been reported recently1,2. I report here the production, morphology and cytology of F1 hybrids of Hordeum vulgare L. cv Betzes×Triticum aestivum L. cv Chinese Spring.
