Organic Derivatives of Montmorillonite

Abstract

THE supposed analogy between hydrogen-saturated montmorillonite and a weak organic acid has encouraged several investigators, notably Berger1 and Deuel2–4, to attempt to esterify the montmorillonite acid using standard organo-chemical methods.
